Thomas Friedman came out with an editorial in the New York Times today called “Did You Hear the One About the Bankers?” Finally. Some of the mainstream press are just coming out and saying it now thanks to the wise OWS sitting in the snow in Manhattan.
The bankers have smothered our politicians with money. It has been obvious that the Republican Party especially has been bought and sold. How else can you explain the moronism of such people as Eric Cantor from Virginia and John Boehner from Ohio. They are so cold-blooded and one-sided that it is way more than obvious that they are not employees of the United States of America at all.
Taking a hint from a blogger, Friedman liked the idea that we make our elected public officials wear the names of their true employers on their backs like NASCAR drivers. Good idea. Bribery of our politicians is legal in this country and it’s got to stop. This is really a no-brainer. We all sit around and watch this atrocity take place and feel helpless to do anything about it while income disparity goes through the roof. Jeez already…
So at least they’re finally saying the things that everybody else has been saying for years, those on the left anyway. Why must you be on the “left” to be right? All I know is that I have been on the “left” for as long as I can remember being interested in politics and I have never been wrong. You can’t defeat common sense. You can pay people to lie about the truth, but they can’t really change the truth. The truth has a way of breaking the seams. Lie about it long enough and the next thing you know you will have a bunch of hippies sitting out in the snow chanting about how they’re not crazy, that they see what they see, that they know what they know because they’re SMART! Not because they’re stupid, but because they’re smart. And they’re not bought and sold.
You can only put up with criminal behavior for so long before you have to stand up and say enough. That’s what they did for all of us. They said enough and now Wall Street is looking over its shoulder trying to figure out how to pay for all of this to go away. The Boehners and Cantors are running around trying to figure out how to reframe the lie in American colors. It’s no use. It’s too late. They have been discovered and the billion dollar infants are going to have to play their billion dollar games with a referee at hand. Oh, the horror of that, they scream, the anti-freedom of all that!
